This poster design was designed for a plot assigned to me in Photoshop class: a comedy-drama about 5 people who think they’re lost deep in the wilderness, but really they’re in a nature park a few miles from town. I studied posters for other ensemble cast comedies to find inspiration on ways to arrange my characters, and design elements that clearly communicate the genre and vibe of the film. I chose photos with a lot of smiles and some spicy interplay between the facial expressions to suggest the tension the arises between the characters, and conceived of the Polaroid and tagline to convey some elements of the plot.
I composited the group photo in Photoshop with adjustments to account for varied lighting, added the background and Polaroid frame, and placed it in a lost “Paradise” with some classic comedy typesetting. I hope that this playful design attracts the eye and the intrigue of this movie’s target audience.
